FY 2025, The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation provided a grant of 41,100 thousand yen.
There are many types of bird conservation efforts, such as improving the environment, rescuing injured birds, and conserving and restoring breeding grounds. What they all have in common is that it takes time to see results. And they require the cooperation of many people. Planning, carrying out activities, checking the results, and correcting them - continuing this series of steps is the most important thing in bird conservation, and various organizations are still working day and night to protect birds. This year marks the 36th year of The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation. From 2022, in order to further expand the circle of support, we have begun to support bird conservation activities by overseas organizations, on the condition that applications are made through organizations active in Japan. We will continue to support the wild bird conservation and research activities of various organizations to protect birds both in Japan and abroad.
On April 21, 2025, the activity subsidy presentation ceremony of The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation was held at Suntory Hall, Tokyo both in person and online.
After the introduction of the Steering Committee, the activity presentation ceremony was held by Masaaki Fujiwara, Managing Executive Officer and General Manager, Corporate Sustainability Department, Sustainability Management Division of Suntory Holdings Limited, Nakazawa Keiichi, Director of the Wildlife Division of the Ministry of the Environment's Natural Environment Bureau, and Tsukamoto Zuiten, steering committee chair, followed by announcements from each grant recipient organization.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the 2025 The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation presentation ceremony today. We would also like to congratulate all the organizations that will be receiving grants. This marks the 36th grant presentation ceremony since the first one was held in 1990, and we are very pleased to have been able to continue supporting various bird conservation activities. We would like to once again express our gratitude to all those involved in these activities. We hope that the efforts of those who are engaged in wonderful wild bird protection and conservation activities both in Japan and abroad will continue to spread and make further progress in the future. Suntory will continue to help protect and nurture wild birds and the biodiversity-rich natural environment, so we appreciate your continued support.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation and all the recipients of their grant support for your efforts in conserving wild birds, which not only enrich our daily lives but also play an important role in the future of the planet.
Wild birds make us feel close to nature and enrich our lives. The Sixth Basic Environment Plan, approved by the Cabinet in May last year, stated that conserving wildlife will improve our daily lives, and thus contribute to our well-being. Your activities to promote positive influence over nature through wild birds will also lead to improved well-being in the local community. I would like to once again express my high expectations and gratitude to all those who are working on such initiatives.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the recipients of the grants for fiscal year 2025. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the guests, trustors, and trustees who took time out of their busy schedules to attend this ceremony, as well as to those who worked hard to prepare for the ceremony. Thank you very much. After enthusiastic discussions in the steering committee, we have decided to provide 17 grants totaling 41.1 million yen this year. We hope that our support will be of some use to your activities. And we are confident that we will achieve wonderful results. The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation will continue to work closely with you through supporting bird conservation activities to protect the natural environment in Japan and around the world, so we appreciate your continued support.
